After a 3-11-2 finish to the fall season, the Monmouth College men’s soccer team are looking for better fortunes next fall during their spring practice season.
Going into the spring practice season, the team is young, consisting mainly of sophomores and freshmen. “Leadership is a big key now. These guys need to take a big step of leadership and discipline moving forward and make sure everyone is rowing in the same direction,” said Ian Hatleli, the men’s soccer’s head coach.
Hatleli runs a focused and fast paced practice, emphasizing confidence on the field and playing smart. “We are changing tactics and playing a different formation, so the big thing is getting everybody on the same page and that is definitely the main focus of this spring,” said Hatleli.
The weight room has also been a large part of the team’s off-season. Sophomore forward, Isaac Price, said: “We have been doing more than 100 push-ups in every workout to get ready for the fall. Coach Hatleli emphasized that the weight room is going to help the team's mentality going into the fall.”
