With two games under their belt and a 0-1-1 record, the Scots faced Augustana College on Tuesday September 2nd. Despite being a non-conference game, the players still view it as a great way to prepare for future conference games. “We got the tie 0-0, but I think we were the better team today and could’ve gone on to win that game,” said Owen Murray, forward. The stats agree with Murray, as the Scots out-shot Augustana 15-9.
Although the Scots struggled to convert offensively, there were bright spots that came from this match-up. They generated a lot of shots on goal, which always sets a team up for success. The Scots defense was also able to hold Augustana scoreless.

There are many ways to view a match that ends in a draw. “Personally, to me, I take a draw as a loss because you could’ve won the game. Obviously, since we did draw, it’s better than a loss, but I would’ve really preferred to get a win instead.” Treyton Yi, Defender, said.
Yi played the entire game, and he takes pride in not allowing the other team a chance to score. Usually, holding a team to 0 throughout the game puts a team in a great position to win. That wasn’t the case with this game.
“As we have more games like this, that’ll help us in conference games when the games are close, and we can try to improve and get the result that we desire,” Murray said.
“We’ve just got to keep working step by step, little by little, towards that conference goal,” said Yi.
