After the shortened season in the spring of 2020, Men’s Lacrosse ended with a record of 4-2. Flash forward almost a full year and the preseason polls have been released for the conference. University of Northwestern (MN) won the coach’s votes with 20 points and 3 first place votes. Monmouth College took second, receiving 20 votes. Cornell College took third with 18 votes and 2 first place votes. Beloit College stood strong in fourth with 16 votes and a single first place vote. Northland College rounded out the rest of the conference with 9 votes.
Talking with some of the players, they didn’t understand how Beloit received a first-place vote in fourth, but we didn’t receive one in second. This lit a flame inside the team. The team of 25 will take the field this spring with their first game kicking off the season on March 20th. Coach Klaiber is excited for this upcoming season. He thinks the men are looking good and can pose a threat and take first from University of Northwestern (MN).
This upcoming season will comprise of 2 games against the aforementioned teams, totaling 8 games. Jeff Knapp is ready to lead the men into the season alongside Teagan Simons, Nick Thomas and the rest of the seniors. These group of men have a solid 2 and a half seasons under their belts and are excited to lead their teammates into an exciting season. Their goal is to win the conference and hopefully making it into the NCAA playoffs, if they get held this season. The talented group has some strong additions all around to assist the team. Sophmores Teagan Simons, Kain Donohoo, and Ryan Giroux are going to be some very powerful assets for the team this upcoming season. Everyone is excited and eager to get onto this season!
