The Monmouth College Men’s Golf team came out swinging last Friday, putting up 345 points in the Duane Chanay Invitational. The invitational took place at the Byron Hills Golf Course in Rock Island, IL on their par 71, 6465-yard course.
Head Coach Cory Bizarri is transforming the golf team this year by bringing in five freshmen. The team of nine only has two upperclassmen, but that isn’t stopping them from fighting for success. The Scots may have a young team but that didn’t stop them from competing well last Friday.
Freshmen Ryan Prusak led the team with an impressive score of 82, just two strokes ahead of sophomore Ben Dobberstein. Freshman Noah Shield scored an 89, one stroke less than sophomore Jimmy Johnson. Max Cook came up just shy in a scoring round with a 91 in his first collegiate event. Golfing as individuals, Jacob Brokaw scored a 90 and Zach Ferris put up a 125.
The Scots continue their season by heading to Galena, IL this weekend to play at the Eagle Ridge North golf course in the 36 hole Midwest Classic hosted by Benedictine University.
