On September 29, the Monmouth College men’s golf team recorded one of the strongest performances of the season so far. In fact, the Scots had their best combined 18-hole score of the season at the Benedictine Eagle Invitational.
A pair of underclassmen led the way for Monmouth. Sophomore Ben Dobberstein and freshman Ryan Prusak each scored with an 81 on the day. Two more freshman, Noah Shields and Max Cook, also finished with impressive scores. Shields ended up with an 86 while Cook carded an 88. Sophomore Jimmy Johnson finished fifth for the Scots, firing a 91 for the day. Rounding out the six golfers for the Scots was freshman Jakob Brokaw, who carded an 88 while golfing as an individual.
The men’s golf team has one final meet before gearing up for the spring season and the SLIAC Championship. At the end of fall break on Sunday, October 13, the Scots will travel to Fontbonne University for the SLIAC Fall Preview. While Fontbonne is the host, the event will take place in Illinois, at Gateway National Golf Club in Madison, IL. That meet is set to begin at 11:30 AM. The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship is not set to begin until April 27. That meet will also be held in Madison. This gives the team plenty of time to continue to practice and improve their scores before the conference championship.
