Monmouth College’s men’s basketball season will be starting up here in the upcoming week. According to Head Coach Todd Skrivseth, this season is looking to be a good one, “this has been a fun group to coach. They are all good people, and our chemistry has been very good so far. We have high expectations for our season and our players have been doing a good job of holding themselves to a high standard.”
Last year the team finished the season with 3 wins and 21 losses. “We have to make major strides defensively and on the glass from last season. Early indications are very positive that we are moving in the right direction… This team has shown a willingness to compete everyday and that has allowed us to maximize our practices. I anticipate getting very good play from our backcourt which should help our interior players have more space to operate.” said Skrivesth.
On the roster this season are 12 freshmen new to the team, 8 sophomores, 5 juniors, 3 seniors and 1 fifth year player.
“We will be led by Jordan Metcalf a returning All-Conference senior and some key returning contributors from last season… In addition, we have some talented newcomers that will help fill some weaknesses we had last year” said Skrivesth.
