Samantha Brosend is a junior biochemistry major
and Spanish minor from Rockford, Illinois.
Sam is a Photography Co-Manager for The Courier.
What do you do in your position with The Courier?
I attend meetings and find stories to take photos for! What is your favorite part about working for the school paper?
I love seeing what’s happening on campus, and it’s fun to be able to contribute to the newspaper by doing something I enjoy! Why did you choose to come to Monmouth?
Monmouth felt the most “at home” for me. The people I talked to on my tours were really knowledgeable and helpful, and I loved the atmosphere here. The admissions office always kept in contact with me and kept reaching out. I did come here to swim originally, and although I’m not doing that anymore, I still work at the pool and have
good connections with Coach Ollis and Burek. What else are you involved in on campus?
I’m in Greek Life, the Fighting Scots Marching Band, the Courier, and work as a lifeguard. What is one skill you wish you could master?
I would love to get over my fear of stage fright and speaking in front of large crowds. What is your biggest pet peeve?
I’d have to say that I hate when people talk with
their mouths full.Do you have any strange phobias?
I’m not deathly scared of them, but I hate spiders. What is one thing that you wish you had
more time for?
Definitely sleeping! What was your childhood nickname?
Some of my high school friends called me
Samisticated because they found out that I went
to play tennis with my family in our free time
(usually on weekends), and they thought that
some of the other things my family does on a
regular basis are “sophisticated” things to do.
