Sabrina Ochs - Alpha Xi Delta
What motivated you to run for president?
“I wanted to run for president because of how deeply I love my chapter and our organization’s values. Alpha Xi Delta has changed my life in such a profound way, and being president gives me the opportunity to ensure the chapter can continue to change lives and make an impact. I also saw changes that needed to come to the chapter, and ways to further strengthen our sisterhood, and I knew that I could make a difference in this organization.”
What does being the president of your chapter mean to you?
“To me, being president means that my chapter has put a remarkable amount of faith in me and I am so honored that they selected me to lead the chapter this year. Being president allows me to be a representation of all that Alpha Xi is and could be, and to work alongside my exec board to bring out all the amazing potential in our chapter.”
What are your top goals for yourself and your sorority this year?
“My top two goals for Alpha Xi are to increase membership by recruiting quality members as well as to strengthen bonds within the chapter. My goals for myself as President are to lead confidently and efficiently to build towards the chapter’s idea of a perfect sisterhood.”
How do you plan to strengthen connections with your chapter and collaborate with the campus and local communities?
“By working closely with the Chapter Life team, I hope to increase Alpha Xi’s presence on campus by hosting events open to all students. These events will serve a dual purpose, both to get the chapter further integrated into campus life, and to attract potential new members for Alpha Xi.”
Alayna Earle - Kappa Kappa Gamma
What motivated you to run for president?
“My motivation to run for president was truly the absolute love I have for Kappa. Kappa has been a place where I have learned so much about myself and strengthened my own leadership skills, so when the opportunity for me to run for president came about, I felt as though Kappa had prepared me for this moment. I saw it as an opportunity to grow and continue spreading the love I have for our sisterhood in such a big way!”
What does being the president of your chapter mean to you?
“I think being the president means I get to show people that being a leader is not something to back down from. We tend to sell ourselves short when thinking of the things we can do individually, which leads to us not wanting to take the risk to be something more. Challenges in your life make you a stronger person and more ready for the world ahead, so why not take the leap and do something you’ll regret not taking the chance on?”
What are your top goals for yourself and your sorority this year?
“Our top goals this year are to increase our philanthropic outreach. Our philanthropies mean so much to us and are so important in the world today, so showing our support and love from a tiny town in the middle of Illinois is so important to the cause we support. We are partnered with the JED Foundation, The National Eating Disorder Association, and other mental health centered resources like Talkspace. We also support our local philanthropy, which is the Western Illinois Animal Rescue. To grow our connection to the college, our fellow Greek life members on campus, and to the Alumni that have made so many things possible for us. And to maintain our high academic standing! We had such an amazing semester last semester and want to continue growing every day!”
How do you plan to strengthen connections with your chapter and collaborate with the campus and local communities?
“Our sorority/fraternity connections are truly so important to us. We all strive to eliminate the stigma with Greek Life, which makes it so easy to come together with things like events, exchanges, and overall positive communication. We have multiple exchanges planned for the semester, where we get together and bond through fun events. We are also so excited for this semester’s Greek Week, which will be happening in April! This is one of the biggest points of contact where we all come together and enjoy hanging out together and competing in fun challenges that make all of us excited for what we are all about!”
Sydney Burge - Pi Beta Phi
What motivated you to run for president?
“I wanted to run for president because I saw it as an opportunity to serve my chapter and be a positive leader for other members. I wanted a chance to lead and help my chapter grow by serving as a source people could go to.”
What does being the president of your chapter mean to you?
“Being the chapter president means serving a group of women who are hardworking, passionate, and goal oriented. Each member of Pi Phi works hard in all aspects of her collegiate experience, and this makes me proud of my chapter.”
What are your top goals for yourself and your sorority this year?
“One goal I have for myself is to help our chapter with our traditions and to reestablish them. I also want to see my sorority sisters accomplish all of their goals this year. “
How do you plan to strengthen connections with your chapter and collaborate with the campus and local communities?
“Our chapter will strengthen connections amongst members through various sisterhood and philanthropy events. We also create stronger connections by spending time with each other when events are not Pi Phi related, and I think this has grown a lot this year. We are hoping to collaborate with our campus more by doing various exchanges with Greek and Non-Greek organizations. We also hope to get together with the Illinois Theta (Bradley University) Pi Phis!”
Esme Caballero - Panhellenic Council
What motivated you to run for president and what does being the president of panhel mean to you?
“I was motivated to run for president because I was on exec last year and worked along with Ruby as VP of Recruitment, and having some experience already showed that I was capable of leading in the panhellenic community. Being the panhel president means to me being an advocate, a leader, a voice for all campus sororities, and collaborating with the chapters/ Interfraternity Council (IFC).”
What are your top goals for yourself and your sorority this year?
“My top goals for myself for this year are to communicate more with professors/ organizations, and for panhel, I want to make sure we are updated with everything, be more involved on campus with other organizations, and communicate with all chapter presidents, and the IFC president. “
How do you plan to strengthen connections with your chapter and collaborate with the campus and local communities?
“I plan to reach out to see if any organizations want to collaborate with the panhel community, as well as collaborating with Rainbow Riders in town when the weather gets warmer.”
