Women's Lacrosse
A year since the end of their season, women’s lacrosse opened up their season with a home game against Concordia University of Chicago. After a hard fought game, the Scot’s fell 3-16 with Mel Fairand, Mackenzie Holmes, and Madison Meldrum netting goals for the Scots. After a 10 day break of games, the women traveled to Rock Island, Illinois to take on the Augustana College Vikings. The Vikings took the lead 40 seconds in and never looked back. Although the Scot’s didn’t net any of their own goals, they still put up respectable stats in other departments. Chadderdon led the Scots with four shots on goal and six ground balls, Mac Holmes had three shots on goal, and Liv Matlock made 10 saves, while standing tall in the goal. Freshman, Tori Cook stood head-to-head with her sister Elizabeth, a senior for the Vikings. This is the first time the women’s Fighting Scots lacrosse has been shut out in 52 games. Next game is set for Saturday, March 27 at Noon in April Zorn stadium.
Men's Lacrosse
The men’s team knocked off no.1 Northland College in a 10-6 win. Kain Donohoo led the Scots with 5 of their goals. It was a back-and-forth battle for most of the game, until sophomore Gordon Keisgen scored to tie the game, won the face off and Kain Donohoo netted the goal to give the Scots the lead. From that point on the Scots didn’t look back. Keisgen scored one more goal and sophomore, Michael Casey found his way to the goal, twice. Monmouth outshot Northland 42-15 and won the battle for ground balls 34-18. The Scots also won the faceoff battle 12-8. Sophomore goalkeeper Teagan Simons made seven saves. Catch their next game on Friday, March 26 in Richmond, IN at 7:00 p.m.
