I asked around campus to see how students make the most of the end of semesters and how they manage to find some fun in the most stressful part of the term. Vicky Ly, a senior, says she likes to walk around campus, exercise, or bake sweets when she gets stressed to take her mind off the things that are making her feel stressed out. I think that’s a great idea, and who wouldn’t like to have something sweet to reward yourself for a job well done? She also says that meditation has been helpful for her concentration in general, whether it pertains to class or not. Socially, Vicky likes study groups, movie nights, and spa nights because we all deserve to chill out from studying every once in a while. I agree. These are all really great ideas to keep your cool during finals, but also just to have fun!
Miracle Sims, a sophomore, says that she likes listening to music, journaling, and eating (relatable). She also likes to find motivational quotes to keep her going. This is great! Journaling is such a good way to rid yourself of any negative emotions from the day, keep track of your progress, and find ways to channel your creativity.
Kolby Carnes, also a sophomore, says he tries to keep up with self-care through regular eating, staying hydrated, taking care of his skin, and sleeping regularly (I wish that were me). He looks forward to relaxing at home after the semester ends. Mood. I look forward to spending lots of time with my cat, Mittens, and seeing my friends back home.
Sometimes, the best way to keep on track is by looking for things to work towards in the future. And what am I doing with my time towards the end of the semester, you may ask? Easy. I’m watching Victorious on Netflix, eating snacks, listening to music, calling my mom on FaceTime to talk to my cat, and making time for myself. Even if you’re stressed about finals, you should still make time for the things that make you happy. Thanks to Vicky Ly, Miracle Sims, and Kolby Carnes for their insights!
