Scots Student Senate hosted their annual “My Story” event last Friday with the purpose of “creating a safe space for peers to share experiences.”
The event included six student speakers and performers who shared their stories through speaking, poetry, and song. Peers, faculty, administrators, and even a group of students from Northern Illinois University attended.
“I think the tradition creates a time and place designated for reconnection,” said senior Student Affairs Officer Ditza Montesinos, who also served as M.C. for this event. “It helps remind us of the value of community, and let’s us see people for who they really are.”
In addition to the performances, President Clarence Wyatt provided hot chocolate and Scots Student Senate provided donuts. The Scots Student Senate executive board assured audience members that the traditioned event will be annually in the future.
