Following the 2019-20 academic year, professor Robert Hinck of the Communication Studies Department and Michelle Damian of the History Department will host a 10-day May term trip to China.
On the trip, students will get to visit five key Chinese cities, explore them with an expert local guide and truly live like a local.
The first stop is the capital city of Beijing, where students will get a guided tour of the city, visit Tiananmen Square, participate in a traditional Tai-Chi lesson, and enjoy a legendary Kung Fu show. While in the Beijing students will have the opportunity to walk along the great wall like the great warriors before them looking over the chinese countryside. After visiting the capitol they will fly to the ancient city of Xi’an which marked the eastern end of the Silk Road.
In Xi’an, you will get the chance to ride bikes along the ancient city walls and spend the day exploring the city on your own and step back in time to see the terracotta warriors of the Huang dynasty. Guilin and Yangshuo are the next cities on the docket for the trip as you will get to spend just a little bit of time there before they head to the city of Hong Kong where you will see one of the centers of the world economy.
Going abroad increases cultural competence and allows students to gain a deeper understanding of the world as a whole.
