Over the summer, I’m sure many of us binged at least a few shows, I know I did! Here’s to another year full of great streaming content. The best shows I watched over the summer were definitely on Hulu and Netflix, but there’s one HBO show that everyone’s raving about this year. On Netflix, it’s always in style to watch childhood favorites like Pokémon, but Netflix originals have really stepped up their game in recent years. Though I don’t personally advise watching it, 13 Reasons Why recently released a new season. Stranger Things 3 was amazing, and the preceding two seasons were so well-produced. Orange Is the New Black has been on most people’s watch lists since the first season came out. Queer Eye is also a great wholesome choice for those nights you need some positivity. On My Block has been generally well-received, along with Grace and Frankie. And the classic boredom-binge series remain on Netflix (for now) like Friends, The Office, Parks and Recreation, and That 70’s Show.
If you’re looking for something a little more scandalous, Sex Education is a fun and (obviously) educational show. Hulu has been creating some amazing original series as well, including The Handmaid’s Tale, which I watched every week as new episodes were released, and The Act. The Act is an interesting series because it is based on the life of a real person. I won’t spoil any of the show, but everyone should give it a try. Brooklyn Nine-Nine is on Hulu, which means that any time I’m feeling down, I watch it. And in case we want to channel our parents at home, we can watch House Hunters on Hulu and pretend like we have the budget to buy a million-dollar home… maybe someday. New Girl is on Hulu and, in case you forgot about this show, it’s a really funny sitcom that you can play in the background while you pretend to do homework.
Hulu just added How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World, so if you didn’t get a chance to watch it, now you can have a movie night with your friends! What We Do in the Shadows is an FX show that was added to Hulu detailing the daily lives of vampires who have been living for centuries in secret. It’s hilarious and the shots remind me an awful lot of The Office’s classic close-ups. And of course, Euphoria is the show everyone is buzzing about this year. I haven’t watched it yet, but I will follow the advice of my friends and get to it as soon as I can. The posts I’ve seen about it so far have been very promising. Overall, we have plenty of options to start off the new year, so settle in and have a binge session with your friends!
