With lacrosse beginning their season this week to some key competitions elsewhere, this weekend looks to be a big one for Monmouth College sports. First, the swim teams kick off their conference meet today in Grinnell, which runs through Sunday.
Several home competitions are also taking place this weekend for the Fighting Scots. Tomorrow, the men’s and women’s basketball teams will both host the Ripon College Red Hawks in what will be two crucial Midwest Conference contests. The men tip off at 1pm while the women are set to start at 3pm. The men will look to maintain control in the conference standings while the women look to regain their lead in the conference.
The track teams also have a home competition this Saturday, hosting the annual Fighting Scot Invite. Field events begin at 11am, followed by running events at noon. This will be an important meet for the Scots to establish top times in their respective events in preparation for the conference meet in a few weeks.
Lacrosse started the season on a high note this week, defeating Augustana in thrilling fashion at home. Next week, the team prepares for a tough road contest against Clarke University in Dubuque, Iowa.
With several home competitions slated for this weekend, make sure to mark your calendars and support the Fighting Scots.
