Monmouth College is in the process of creating permanent residences for fraternities Zeta Beta Tau (ZBT), Phi Delta Theta, and Sigma Phi Epsilon. “Housing and chapter space are important to the quality of our Greek Life experience,” said President Clarence Wyatt in an email sent to the campus.
In recent years, there have been renovations and construction for the three sororities on campus: Alpha Xi Delta, Pi Beta Phi, and Kappa Kappa Gamma. The same cannot be said for the fraternities. “From the time that the Fraternity Complex was deemed to be unsuitable for students housing, the college has worked since to find a permanent home for the three chapters that were housed there,” said Wyatt.
“ZBT and Sigma Phi Epsilon have for some time been developing housing funds,” said Wyatt, “the college is working with student and alumni leadership of these chapters to plan to raise funds to renovate two college-owned properties on Broadway.” Plans are to house ZBT in the old Kappa/Development House and house Sigma Phi Epsilon in the Presbyterian House. The college plans to provide a chapter space for Phi Delta Theta in a residence hall.
“Once the cost of renovation is determined, fundraising efforts among each chapter’s alumni and friends will commence,” said Wyatt, “renovation on each house will begin only when 100 percent of the cost has been committed and 75 percent is in hand.”
Founders Village, currently housing ZBT and Sigma Phi Epsilon, is planned to be sold during the summer of 2024.
