As the bagpipes will be heard calling alumni from across the country home to the Monmouth College campus, current students are also preparing for an exciting weekend in athletics for the 2021 Homecoming weekend. October 23 boasts five athletic events to be participated in by the Fighting Scots with four of those events occurring on campus The only team heading off campus this weekend, the men’s and women’s swim teams are looking to take their second victory of the season coming off of their first meet against Knox College last Friday. The lineup consists of eight men and sixteen women and also boasts twelve swimmers who are beginning their college career this season. Led by Coach Jake Dacus and Assistant Coach Erin Lafary, the Scots will be heading up to Augustana College to compete in a dual meet on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. On their home Peacock Memorial field both the men’s and women’s soccer teams will be facing off against Beloit College. Both teams are well into their conference season and looking to take another victory for their overall conference score. The women’s team will begin the day with a kickoff at 11:00 a.m. followed by the men’s team at 1:30 p.m. In the Glennie Gymnasium, the women’s volleyball team will start play against Ripon College at 11:30 a.m. Starting off their conference season, the team currently has a Midwest Conference score of 3-4 after a win against Knox College, and the Scots are hoping to take another victory this Saturday on their home court. The team will continue their regular season after this weekend with a match at Loras College and a tournament at Central College. Everyone’s eyes will be on the Scots football team as they take the field Saturday with a 5-0 conference record. The men are excited to return to their home field after travelling to Beloit last Saturday. The team will continue their Midwest Conference play next weekend at their home April Zorn Stadium against Lake Forest College. For the weekend, 193 athletes make up the Homecoming weekend roster across the six teams. The Scots are looking to bring home five wins for the weekend.
