Let’s talk about registration. When you can register depends on a few things, so be sure to check MyMC to see when you’re eligible. Upperclassmen have precedence, so rising seniors should really get a head start. Students are sometimes sorted by credits or grades too, so if you did dual-enrollment, took extra courses, or are ahead of the other students in their grade, you may be able to register extra early. You can register online, and housing is also being done online, so make sure you check both to get your top picks, both for your building of choice and your classes of choice.
Some fun options to consider for the upcoming semester are: Hand-Built Ceramics, Radio: Workshop, Sports Communication, Mass Media & Modern Society, Political Philosophy, Personality (Psychology), Animal Behavior (Psychology), Theories of Culture & Society (Sociology/Anthropology), Design Theory (Theatre), and Intro to Women’s Studies.
Regardless of your major, you can benefit from taking a course that dives into a topic you’re unfamiliar with – like ceramics or radio. Even if you’re a STEM major, these classes provide you with a lot of knowledge that you won’t be able to get elsewhere. Some people in specific majors value their own major-oriented courses above others, but branching out can teach you skills you can transfer to your own major, too.
