Guillermo flips his bat, flipping Monmouth College history over the weekend

After losing game one against Lawrence 13-2, Monmouth College put he barrel to the ball as Daniel Lummus, Nate Reed, and Raul Guillermo went yard in game two. Guillermo’s home run was belted to left field and bounced across North 11th St. The estimated distance the ball traveled from bat to ground is 370+ feet as measured on Google. This home run ties the team’s historical record for most home runs in a career that was previously held by Mike Dato at 19.
For game two, Daniel Lummus got the scoring started for the Scots in t4he first inning, making it home from a wild pitch. A single hit by Guillermo helped Eric Campen score another run in the first inning. Going into the second inning, the Vikings were leading 4-2.
Lawrence pushed the score to 6-2 while the Scots when two innings without scoring a run. Lawrence went scoreless from the third inning, this gave the Scots time to slowly close the gap.
Lummus, after reaching third base, scored for the second time from another wild pitch in the fourth inning. Jacob Blunck was the second scorer. In the fifth inning, there was a single run from Gabe Zeigler-Harris.
The seventh inning was a powerful one. The Scots found themselves scoring five more runs. Zeigler-Harris scored followed by Lummus. Aiden Scott hit a double, allowing two more players to run home and increased the score to 9-6. Followed up by one more, the Scots finished the game with a 10-6 win.
The Scots will head to Grinnell College this weekend to take on the Pioneers in a three game series.
