On Wednesday, ASAP hosted a hands-on event that allowed students to paint flowerpots and create resolution “punch cards” to get a fresh start to the new year and the spring semester.
Students gathered to decorate their own flowerpots while creating personalized punch cards designed to help track progress toward their resolutions. The event gave students a chance to relax and let their creativity flow while also thinking about their goals and intentions for the year. “While we always hope students leave our events having fun and feeling proud to be a Scot, this event gave students a physical reminder of their goals for the new year.” said ASAP President Claire LaBadie, “We hope they continue to take care of and raise the plant they potted today, and we hope they use the punch cards as a reward system for reaching their goals, motivating them to have a great year!”

“Events that we put on give students the opportunity to get out and make friends. Sometimes on a small campus, students may struggle finding things to do or people to spend time with. We aim to give them a place to spend time with their friends or find their people,” said LaBadie. “Especially with this time of year, many students may be stressed or struggling with mental health, and we want to give them something to look forward to even when the weather outside isn’t great.”
ASAP’s events give students an outlet to meet new people, be creative, and make memories on campus. The organization has a packed schedule this spring semester featuring events such as a silent disco formal, a petting zoo, and roller skating. ASAP events are free for all students to attend.
