Fusion Fest VI was held last weekend. For those who don’t know, Fusion Fest is a yearly event hosted by The Monmouth College Theatre Department. The event is usually made up of several 10-minute plays created and rehearsed in the previous twenty-four hours.
After a short kickoff event on Friday night, playwrights have twelve hours to compose and perfect their 10-minute masterpiece. After those twelve hours are up, the directors and actors receive the finished scripts and begin the casting and the blocking of the play. Then, at 7:30, after 24 hours have passed , everyone meets at the Fusion Theatre for the show!
This year, five different plays performed. One play was written by Monmouth College alumna Amanda Grissom.
All five plays were performed in the Fusion Theater windows. Seats were situated outside and the sound was directed out of the windows into speakers that were set up in front of the building.
Professor Vamesa Campagna had this to say: “The pre-show energy from the audience was palpably different than inside a theatre lobby, and this was exciting. Worth noting, we had a larger student population in the audience than in previous years!
“Thanks to all who came out and, again, congratulations to all who participated!”
