Friendships, Sports, and Faith FCA at Monmouth College
Monmouth College Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) gives athletes the opportunity to gather with one another, strengthen their relationship with Jesus, all while building relationships with one another. “I love how open and non-judgmental everyone is, it feels like being a part of a family,” said Senior Amanda Dybal. Senior football and track member Sam Phillips started FCA last year and the group has been growing members since the start. “When we have activities outside we usually have around 50 students attend, at every meeting we typically have about 25 members attend,” said Phillips.
FCA is filled with many fun opportunities for students to grow their faith, and the opportunity to meet new people. “This past fall we had a kick-off event with games, snacks, and prizes” said Phillips. “We also continue to do outings throughout the year, we went to see Jesus Revolution a few weeks ago in the movie theater.”
Based out of Kansas City, Mo., FCA works with coaches and athletes from youth sports thru college and professional. According to their website, FCA works to “use the powerful platform of sport to reach every coach and every athlete with the transforming power of Jesus Christ. FCA focuses on serving local communities around the globe by engaging, equipping and empowering coaches and athletes to unite, inspire and change the world through the gospel.”
FCA meets every Thursday at 7 p.m., and you can follow the FCA Instagram @fcamonmouthcollege to keep up with meeting times and upcoming events.
