The Monmouth Women’s Tennis team opened Midwest Conference play with a lost to Lake Forest College 0-9 on Saturday.
In doubles, the #1 team of freshman, Natalie Labicki and senior Emily Laughlin lost to Lake Forest’s Marie Jose Campos, and Margaret Bugnacki 8-2. Then at #2, seniors Emily Henson and Isabel Hammond lost to Libby Moog and Sara Lopez 8-4. The #3 team of sophomore Jennifer Shimmin and junior Juila Mheidze had a closer match, losing to Isa Hinojosa and Kelsey Akins 8-5. At #1 singles Labicki vs lost 6-0, 6-1. The tough matches continued with only 3 games awarded to the Scots.
“The season is looking better for the team especially after this match, we are improving our match play day by day,” said Labicki. “It’s helping us become more competitive players.”
The Scots continue their season Saturday September 24th at 9am versus Ripon College, followed by senior day festivities and then again at 2pm versus Lawrence University.
