Monmouth College’s Chorale and Wind Ensemble hosted their first concert of the year on Saturday, September 21st. Scheduled during the college’s annual Family Weekend, everyone in the music department was eager to perform pieces they’ve been working on since the beginning of the school year.
“We love the Family Weekend concerts because it is the first impression people have of the two main ensembles on campus and also a sneak peek at what the year has to come,” said Chorale President Rilee Lash.
Chorale performed two pieces entitled “Joy” and “Domaredansen.” The college’s Wind Ensemble performed “March in F,” “My Dearest Jane,” and “Infinity.” These pieces along with a few more will be performed at the Homecoming Concert.
The Family Weekend Concert is an opportunity for new members to practice. “This experience is also necessary for the students just joining the ensembles so they can perform a shorter set and see what concerts are like so they can prepare for the longer ones in the future,” said Lash.
