A 14-0 scoring run right out of the gate was all the visiting Cornell Rams needed to dispose of Monmouth’s women’s basketball team in Glennie Gym on Tuesday evening. Cornell walked away with a 75-50 victory over the Scots, causing Monmouth to fall to a record of 6-13 and 2-8 in conference play.
The Scots tried to claw their way back throughout the first half, going into the locker room facing a 36-17 deficit. Despite outscoring Cornell 19-15 in the third period, the Rams reaffirmed their stance and outscored Monmouth in the 4th quarter 24-14 to cement their victory.
Freshman Tiah Riggs led the Scots in scoring with 13 points, followed by seniors Brooklyn Sellers and Kynlee Sterns with 11 and 10 points respectively. As a team, the Scots shot 43.1% from field goal range, with 14.3% of made attempts coming from beyond the arc.
