YES – V-Day is FINALLY here. So a little back story on why this day is so special: The first Valentine’s Day was in 496 and it came from a festival, Lupercalia, to mark the official start of Spring. All the young women in the city would put their names into a vesicle of some sort allowing all the bachelor’s within the limits to choose their name and court them for the following calendar year. Some say that Cupid – the son of Venus who is the goddess of love and beauty – may have struck them during their courtship seeing as many of them would end in marriage.

Valentine’s Day is a time that we now associate with chocolates, and flowers, and meaningful gifts, compared to grade-schoolers, who just want a paper note with a candy or two. However, here is what the Scots really want for Valentine’s Day:
