Creating the “Best Week Ever”
For the past semester, Scots Association for Student Activity Programming (ASAP) Chairs Brady Arrenius ‘26 and Claire LaBadie ‘27 have worked together in creating the first-ever ‘Best Week Ever’ at Monmouth College.
The idea came to ASAP members, who compared events from the first and second semesters.
“The first semester is pretty event-heavy, so we wanted to even it out. The second semester is when a lot of burnout begins to occur. We’ve been studying and working hard for about six to seven months to implement events students can enjoy in the second semester,” said Arrenius. “We wanted to make campus more fun in the second semester because there is not as much going on.”
The 'Best Week Ever’ included several tried-and-true ASAP events.
“It is a mix of all of our events. We had bingo, make it or break it, a coffeehouse, a performer, laser tag, and an off-campus event. We really try to encompass all of the events’ ASAP does over the course of the year,” said Arrenius.
Arrenius and LaBadie met every Tuesday with Advisor Meredith McGary to plan the week, then relayed information to ASAP’s executive board. Even other organizations contributed to the week’s activities.
“Phi Delt has really supported us the whole course of the year but especially leading up to the Best Week Ever,” said Arrenius.
While it was the Best Week Ever’s debut, Arrenius anticipates a return in future years.
“This is an annual event we will have in the spring semester. Hopefully, it returns in future years,” said Arrenius. “Somethings we are hoping to include in the future are some more interactive events to drive the student engagement ASAP craves.”
