After a four year hiatus, McDonald’s is bringing back its Hi-C Orange Lavaburst fountain drink, also popularly known simply as “Orange Drink”. “Remember the hot summer days when we were kids and you got to go to McDonald’s to get orange drink with your Happy Meal,” said junior Emma Poole. The Hi-C drink first debuted at McDonald’s in 1955 and was discontinued in 2017. It was replaced by the Sprite Tropic Berry, a drink that was made exclusively by Coca-Cola for the McDonald’s restaurants. Hi-C orange drink is made by the Minute-Maid division of Coca-Cola products. The drink will be in select McDonald’s restaurants in February and in all restaurants in the US by June. You can find out the closest location to you offering the drink with the Hi-C Orange drink tracker website at “mcdfinder.com”. According to the tracker, the only McDonald’s locations in Illinois so far with the orange drink are in the Chicagoland area. The closest to Monmouth is the Minooka location, 163 miles from campus. The Hi-C orange drink is an alternative for those who may not like carbonated drinks or choose not to drink them. “I don’t really like McDonald’s but maybe that will change when it comes back,” said junior Sara Simonson. The sister drink Orange Fanta is also making a debut to McDonald’s location as well, according to USA Today. “Growing up we couldn’t have decaffeinated drinks, I guess because my siblings and I were a little wild, so having the option to choose Hi-C again will for sure bring back some old memories,” said senior Shyanne Sheehan.
