The Ides of March are upon us and with that comes March Madness, or in my case as a UK fan, March Sadness. My pick to win it all in March is the Gonzaga Bulldogs. It’s a no brainer, you have an experienced roster that is led by star freshman guard, Jalen Suggs and supporting cast. Coach Mark Few has always been within a shot or two of bringing home a national title to Spokane, WA and this year just feels like a perfect storm for the Zags. There are two dark horses to keep an eye on throughout conference tournament week leading up to Selection Sunday and those are Alabama and Michigan. This season is made for teams with tons of experience and those two schools have that. Alabama is led by the dynamic senior duo of John Petty Jr. and Herb Jones. Petty and Jones are lighting up the SEC this season shooting a combined 45% from three and averaging 12 points per game. Their team three-point percentage is 37% and they’re holding their opponents to a measly 22% from behind the arc. The next team to look out for is the University of Michigan Wolverines who are 14-1 with five games left in the season against three quality Big Ten teams in, Rutgers, Ohio State, and Iowa. If they win out and then make a run in the Big Ten tournament I think they’ll be primed to make a deep run in the NCAA tournament and potentially bring Juwan Howard and Big Blue another NCAA title.
