Four games into their season the Fighting Scots Baseball team has a 2-2 record after sweeping Simpson College on Mar. 13.
SDI Nathan Baliva talked with Head Coach Alan Betourne, “It was good to get back out there after two years at home and get a win…we played a couple of complete games which we didn’t do last week so it was good to see those things come together after the early nerves.”
In game one Scots senior Shamus Murphy scored a two-out double to get the gang on the board in the third inning with the help of senior Jordan Ball. Scots took the lead in the fourth inning after a two-out walk and a two-run homer. Although the Scots went back and forth in the for the W, sophomore Tim McNally clinched game 3 by a groundout save in the ninth inning. The game ended 10-7, Scots.
Game two allowed Scots to tie up by the third inning with the help of senior Alec Lyle and juniors Anthony Ruggles and Justin Bost. The Scots took the lead in the seventh and kept it till the end, sophomore Addison Fletcher got the W for the crew. The 4-2 ending brought the Scots record to 2-2.
The next games for the Fighting Scots will be at Cornell College on Sat. Apr. 3. The following weekend they will be home against Illinois College.
