ASAP’s “Big Pink Volleyball” raises funds for breast cancer awareness

Last Thursday, ASAP hosted its annual Big Pink Volleyball event in the Huff Athletic Center Fieldhouse, raising between $200 and $300 for Linda’s Fund, which supports women battling breast cancer in the Monmouth community
“It’s like a volleyball match with a giant, big pink volleyball,” said Zay Kemp, ASAP’s programming director. “It’s very hard to hit, no matter how you try. The goal was to raise funds for Linda’s Fund, which helps out women with breast cancer by spreading awareness and helping with medical bills for women who can’t afford it.”
Kemp, who also participated in the match, said that while turnout was smaller than expected, the players and spectators made the most of the event. “It was fun. A lot of people there had fun. There were only two teams, which was kind of disappointing, but both teams definitely enjoyed it,” he said. “It was rough on the hands afterwards, but it was a good experience overall.”
ASAP plans to continue its partnership with Linda’s Fund and hopes to make Big Pink Volleyball a recurring fall event.
