Over 30 Monmouth College students were treated to a trip to Fun City in Burlington, Iowa, courtesy of ASAP last Friday night.
Fun City offers many attractions in its facility. With a game card, attendees can enjoy a variety of games and activities, such as an arcade, air hockey, and bowling. “It was just fun.”, said freshman Lexi Serpette, who had driven a go-kart for the first time in a long time. Later that night, she proceeded to win numerous rounds in a basketball-oriented version of the classic strategy game Connect Four.

Freshman Casey Carithers logged some serious hours on Avengers and SpongeBob SquarePants-themed coin pusher machines. “I didn’t have very many [tickets] before I went to the coin pusher, but I do know I ended up with 1,050 [tickets]”. After finishing her work on the machines, Carithers spent 800 of her tickets on a small plush pickle and gave the remaining 250 to another family visiting Fun City that evening. Carithers was not the only winner. August Morris won 500 tickets in a single round on the Monopoly arcade machine.
Other arcade attractions Fun City offers include the rhythm game Guitar Hero, a rollercoaster simulator, Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games, air hockey tables, and many other modern and classic games.
Students can keep an eye out for emails from ASAP for the latest news on events and gatherings put on by the organization.
