On Thursday, October 30th, ASAP hosted an escape room coffeehouse for Halloween. Like many of their past coffeehouses, many kinds of snacks and drinks were free and available to students. All the students had to do was scan their IDs, and then they were free to enjoy the snacks.

This event was hosted in the CSB, where they used two small classrooms to set up their escape rooms. The first room was constructed by the Outdoor Society and the Running Club. They worked together to create an elaborate story about how a runner had gone missing. Students used clues throughout the room to unlock a box, which had fingerprints on it. After matching the fingerprint to a weapon, students solved the mystery. This room took about 5 minutes to complete and was simpler than the next room.
The second room was put together by ASAP. This room was much more tedious than the first and involved putting together a lot of clues. The second room took students around 15-20 minutes to complete.
Meredith McGary, the advisor of ASAP, explained how this was the first time they had put on this event. McGary said, “Last year, we did freeze tag in the dark; we got to turn off every light in the business wing.” She explained that although it was a fun event, they were looking to switch it up this year with something new.
This was a successful event with about 25 students attending. Students enjoyed an interactive event, and it created a positive and wholesome environment to celebrate Halloween.
