This year’s Super Bowl is not the one I was hoping for during the AFC and NFC Championship games. Nonetheless it will still be refreshing to see someone not named Tom Brady representing the AFC this year.
This Super Bowl, I believe that the Kansas City Chiefs will beat the San Francisco 49ers by a convincing score of 41-17. My main reason for picking the Chiefs is the fact that they have arguably the most talented offense in NFL history. Patrick Mahomes has been phenomenal this postseason, leading the Chiefs to the Super Bowl against a talented Texans squad and a Titans team that looked destined to reach the big stage. Mahomes, coupled with Tyreek Hill, Travis Kelce, and a stout offensive line, should have no problem throwing for over 300 yards in this game. In fact, when compared to his opposing QB, Jimmy Garoppolo, the numbers are not even close. Garoppolo has thrown for just over 200 yards passing in total this postseason. In other words, he has not had to do much other than handing the ball off to his running back to get this offense going.
Thus, the result of this game will come down to which side is better: the Chiefs’ passing offense, or the 49ers’ rushing attack. In this game, I am going to side with Mahomes, a QB with talent, poise, and experience, over a team that just last year went 4-12 and won a lot of close games this year that could have gone either way.

After looking back at my Super Bowl predictions from the fall semester, that the New Orleans Saints would be playing the Kansas City Chiefs, I’d say I did alright. With the Kansas City Chiefs coming to Miami Florida to play the San Francisco 49ers, I am excited to see two competitive teams in a very close game. With that being said, I am slightly favoring the Chiefs.
I believe it is time for Patrick Mahomes to finally get his chance at a ring. The 2018 MVP, has an incredible arm with amazing accuracy. With a 76.3 QBR ranked second in the league, there is no doubt that this star will have a great game (ESPN). The Chiefs have a fantastic offense with Sammy Watkins and Tyreek Hill at the wide receiver positions, and then the unstoppable Travis Kelce at the Tight End Position. The defense is also solid with Frank Clark leading the team with 4 sacks and Daniel Sorensen leading with 17 total tackles this postseason (ESPN).
I also think the 49ers shouldn’t be slept on either. Jimmy G had a strangely successful NFC Championship game against the Green Packers by throwing just eight total passes. Their rushing game took over with Raheem Mostert rushing for 220 yards and 4 touchdowns. The San Francisco defense staring Nick Bosa and Arik Armstead will both play well this weekend with their current combined sack total of 5 (ESPN). I think that if the 49ers can stop the Chiefs passing game, they have a strong chance of running their way into their first Super Bowl title in 25 years.
