“Karaoke for a Cause is an event we do every year,” said Alpha Xi Delta’s Vice President of Philanthropy, Anna Caster, “because we have so much fun with the event, we sometimes do it more than once a year… this will be our second karaoke event for the year.” Alpha Xi Delta hosted another Karaoke for a Cause last Friday to fundraise for their philanthropy, which supports children and teens experiencing homelessness and foster care.
Students could enter to sing a song of their choice and perform for the judges; the top three performances could win a prize from MC Sport or Dame Fine Coffee. Professors James Godde, Tom Prince, Richard Johnston, and Justin Swearinger judged the event.
“I love doing Karaoke for a Cause because I really enjoy seeing so many people from different groups and organizations on campus come together and have fun while supporting Alpha Xi,” said Caster. The winners of the event were Anna Caster and Lea Selquist in third place performing “All I Want For Christmas Is You” by Mariah Carey, Tasha Bernius in second place performing “Save a Horse (Ride a Cowboy)” by Big & Rich, and Vea Vocrosky in first place performing “Mercy” by Shawn Mendes.
Alpha Xi Delta raised $155 from the event. “Alpha Xi Delta believes that all children deserve access to love, support, and basic needs that lay a strong found for life,” said Caster, “children experiencing foster care or homelessness may not always have access to these things, which is why Alpha Xi is dedicated to supporting organizations who bring about more access to these needs.”
