The ACE space in Hewes Library has been assisting students for a full semester now and is always looking for ways to expand and find what fit is best for students. The Wackerle Career and Leadership Center has recently introduced Handshake. Handshake helps connects students with employers and helps push students with their job search. Handshake can compare to Netflix, just for your job search instead! It keeps track of your resume, your profile, and keeps track of your interests, including what companies you have viewed so it can recommend and find more of the careers or internships that you are looking for. Companies and employers are approved by Handshake to make sure that only reliable and quality employers are on the platform. Wondering how you can get started with Handshake? Every Friday from 1:30 to 3pm, students can stop by and walk in to Wackerle to get help with their profiles.
Wackerle also provides help with resumes, cover letters, and advice any Tuesday or Thursday during their open hours from 12:30-3:30pm. “The ACE space is great for students because for example, if a student was looking to spend a semester abroad, they can talk with the office of global engagement. Then talk to the registrar’s office to see what classes they need to take and also talk to the Wackerle Center about future careers; with the accessibility of all of the offices being in one location,” said Marnie Dugan, Wackerle director. Overall, the offices located in the ACE are helping students connect the dots between academic and career success.
