This past Sunday saw the last choral concert of the semester with a mix of the Monmouth College chorale, chamber choir, concert choir, and the Monmouth Roseville Mixed Madrigal Choir.
The concert kicked off with the Monmouth Roseville Madrigal Choir, directed by Kevin Ferry, performing two songs, “Sogno di volare” and “Balleilaka”. The second included body percussion and arm movements. The Monmouth College concert choir joined the high schoolers for “Lamentations of Jeremiah.” The high schoolers not in concert choir then left and the concert choir performed “The Word Was God”, “The Lake Isle” with a guest violinist and guitarist, “Fields of Gold” with a guest guitarist, and “It takes a Village” with soloist Sam Zigmant, Garett Rossel on drums, and AJ Furness on shaker
The performance is the last time Tom Clark will be directing at Monmouth College. Clark has taken a position at Central Methodist University in Missouri as the Director of Choral Activities.
Next on the stage was the Monmouth College Chamber Choir. They performed three songs from “Four Slovak Folk Songs,” “Selene’s Boat” with AJ Furness on percussion, and “You Can’t Stop Me Now.” They were followed by the Monmouth College Chorale who performed four songs, “Ah, sim on moine voulait danser,” I Love My Love,” “Lullaby,” and “Chua-ay.” Each of the graduating chorale seniors were also recognized during this time. They are AJ Furness, Megan Holevoet, Skylar Law, Eli Kelly, Zach Lundquist, and Corey Pevitz.
To end the concert, all the choirs came on stage to perform “Baba Yetu” with soloists Matthew Blackford, AJ Furness, and Katie Carr, and “A Flame of White and Crimson” together.
