February is the month of love, and what better way to celebrate than sitting down with a romance novel? Here are three books that focus on love and relationships all in different ways. Whether you’re celebrating Valentine’s Day alone, with friends, or with a significant other, everyone deserves a little romance in their lives.
For the romance reader:
The Worst Best Man, by Mia Sosa
When Carolina is left at the altar during her wedding, she feels as if her whole world is coming to an end. After a while, when she finally starts to come back from a terrible heartbreak, she accepts a life-changing new job opportunity. However, it comes with a catch. She has to work closely with Max, who not only encouraged her ex-fiancé to leave her, but is his brother as well. Carolina will have to set aside her wounds of the past and budding attraction to Max to do her job.
For the classics reader:
Pride and Prejudice, by Jane Austen
Does this one need any explanation? It's only the most classic romance novel of all time. If you're in the mood for pining lovers, fancy dresses, and nineteenth century English drama, look no further. There is also a great movie adaptation with Kiera Knightly to watch with your beloved or friends on the holiday itself!
For the vampire lover:
A Dowry of Blood, by S.T. Gibson
If you went to middle school in the early 2010’s, chances are you’ve associated vampires with Valentine’s day at some point. A Dowry of Blood isn’t your normal vampire story and is full of both toxic romance and self-love. It follows Dracula and his many lovers throughout the centuries told through the eyes of his first wife as she is found by him, falls in love with him, and eventually realizes the true monster of the man that she had married. This is a short but definitely heavy book, so please check trigger warnings before reading.
