Every year the IL Alpha Chapter of Pi Beta Phi hosts the philanthropy event, “Pie a Pi Phi”. The twist in the name alludes to exactly that, people pay and/or donate money to pie one of the women’s fraternity members in the face.
Last Friday on Dunlap Terrace, students could join in on the pie activities to benefit Pi Beta Phi’s philanthropy, Read > Lead > Achieve. This philanthropy assists and raises money to promote child literacy. Prior to the big event, members of the women's fraternity went around campus and chalked literacy facts on the sidewalk as a way to promote the event as well as a way to highlight how prevalent illiteracy is. In total, Friday’s event raised over 400 dollars.
