Staff Spotlight: Emma Hildebrand

I am The Courier’s Editor in Chief and am a senior political science major and history minor. On campus, I am also involved in Stockdale Fellows and am President of College Republicans. I am from Mendon, Illinois, a town of only 900 people. Here are twenty-one fun facts to get to know me:

  1. My favorite food consists of literally anything you can eat for breakfast.
  2. I have a guinea pig named Newton and he is cooler than you.
  3. Except for in extenuating circumstances, I can’t sleep any later than 8:00 AM.
  4. The only thing in the world that I’m allergic to is the chicken pox vaccine.
  5. I drink an absolutely insane amount of coffee. Probably not healthy but… Oh well.
  6. I worked in a bakery in high school and ate so many leftover doughnuts.
  7. My favorite TV shows is definitely The Great British Baking Show.
  8. For my sixteenth birthday, I didn’t get a car; I got two kittens.
  9. I’m scared to death of butterflies and all bugs in general.
  10. My favorite movie in the whole world is Jurassic Park.
  11. I have every news app that you can imagine. I get each breaking news alert 10+ times.
  12. I worked at the White House.
  13. In high school, I played softball – second baseman at your service.
  14. I sing the National Anthem at public events pretty often.
  15. My favorite book is Jane Eyre.
  16. In five years’ time, I will be deeply in debt. Thanks, law school.
  17. I love school, like really really really love it. Nerd and proud.
  18. I was THE 2016 Adams County Fair Queen and got to wear a crown everywhere.
  19. I used to have a cat with seven toes on each foot.
  20. I’ve been in The Sound of Music, You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown, and Bye Bye Birdie musicals.
  21. My 21st birthday is Thursday!
